Frequently asked questions

How far in advance do I need to order my wedding cake?

We usually recommend up to 1 year if your wedding is during our busy months of April to October or during holiday periods, however as a result of Covid-19 there is higher demand for 2021-2023.  We create a limited number of cakes per week so please check availability with us.

Do you cater for allergies?

Regretfully not.  We operate from one commercial kitchen and regularly use ingredients which may cause an allergic reaction, i.e. gluten, eggs, milk and nuts.  We can omit such ingredients however would require you to sign an indemnity disclaimer if you or a guest have allergies.

If you order a cake from us you will be supplied with a full list of ingredients and allergens for your chosen cake flavours.

We do not offer Vegan cakes however can highly recommend a local company who do.

Do you deliver?

Yes we deliver throughout the North East from Berwick to Darlington.

Are you a registered Business?

Yes The Cake Garden is our full time business and operates from dedicated commercial business premises.  We have a Food Hygiene Rating of 5, Food Safety Level 2 training and Public Liability Insurance.

Can you make any style of cake?

We pride ourselves in our versatility and have produced many different styles of wedding cakes over the 15 years we have been in business.  Skilled in Sugar Flower work, Chocolate, Iced, Buttercream and Semi Naked designs.

Do you make Novelty celebration cakes?

Regretfully no, we specialise in creating beautiful classic designs.

Can we have different flavours of cake in our tiers?

Absolutely!  The more the merrier.   Each of our tiers are made up of 4 layers of sponge cake and 3 layers of fillings.  They are then coated in a generous layer of Belgium white chocolate ganache and a final thin layer of premium swiss sugarpaste. Each standing 5" deep as a standard, taller tiers are by request.

Do you supply Dessert Tables and Wedding Favours?

Historically we have loved creating full dessert tables however demand has increased for our wedding cakes and we have taken the decision to stop offering full tables.  We will however continue to offer dessert extra's for your evening buffet, to include cakepops, brownies, meringues, macaron and our gorgeous butterscotch fudge..

Our wedding favours include cakepops, macaron, fudges, truffles, iced biscuits and chocolate discs, all bagged - starting at £2.20 each.
 

How do we arrange a chat to book?

Give us a call or email and we'll first check availability for your wedding. 
We will offer estimate costs for you via email or phone and can arrange postal cake samples for you to try. 
Should you then wish to secure the date, its a £50 deposit and we will arrange your design consultation at a later date, usually the early months of the year of your wedding.
  Final cake balances are due 6 weeks before your wedding date.

Please note we do not host design consultations for semi skimmed designs, details are arranged via telephone and email.

Sample boxes contain 4 different flavour's and are £20 delivered 1st class.  Sample boxes are posted monthly (none during July & August).

 

Do I need to know exactly what design I want when I book?

No, specifics are not important at the booking date however it is important to know the style, i.e. iced with sugar flowers, semi skimmed with fresh flowers, as we make more than one cake each week, we need to be able to schedule in work and not over commit.
